Comparison guide
scrappbook alternatives: what the plans really cost, and three other options compared
scrappbook is a capable tool from Düsseldorf, built for photographers who sell prints and digital files straight from the gallery. Most people searching for a scrappbook alternative are not unhappy with it. They have reached the 15-gallery limit of the Starter plan, they deliver video, or they are paying for a shop they never switch on. This guide puts the realistic alternatives side by side and explains how to move without losing a gallery.
Why photographers look elsewhere
Three reasons come up most often. None of them is a complaint about quality.
Starter stops at 15 galleries
The Starter plan offers unlimited image storage, but only 15 galleries, for EUR 19 a month with a three-month minimum or EUR 14.50 billed yearly. A wedding photographer who leaves each couple's gallery online reaches 15 within one season. Unlimited galleries need Professional at EUR 39 a month, or EUR 29 billed yearly. The storage is unlimited; the number of clients you can serve at once is not.
A shop you may never switch on
scrappbook is built around selling: a print shop with fulfilment, a digital shop, an album editor, vouchers and marketing automation. If your packages already include the files, most of that stays switched off. On sales, scrappbook charges a service fee of 4.9% on digital content plus EUR 1 per order on the paid plans, and 15% on the free one.
Video as an add-on
The plans include 5 GB of video storage, and more is a paid add-on on Starter and Professional. A single highlight film in 4K can fill that. If every wedding you deliver comes with a film, video becomes a second bill next to the plan. Tools that count video against ordinary storage are easier to plan with.
The alternatives, side by side
scrappbook and the three tools it is most often compared with, on the plans a working photographer would actually pick. Prices exclude VAT. scrappbook was checked in October 2026, the others in September 2026; scrappbook, picdrop and Photoglacier bill in euros, Pixieset in US dollars.

Where scrappbook is the better tool
An honest comparison names these first. If one of them is how you earn your money, staying is the right answer.
Selling prints and single files
The shop is the heart of scrappbook. Clients order prints with their own photos shown on the product, scrappbook handles production and shipping, and the digital shop lets you include a set number of images and charge for each further one. For school, nursery and mini-session work that model is hard to replace, and Photoglacier has no shop at all.
The gallery as an app
A scrappbook gallery can be installed on the client's phone as a web app, with one of their own photos as the icon, and a slideshow is included. It is a charming touch for family clients. Photoglacier galleries are web pages that open from a link, with nothing to install.
Unlimited storage at a flat price
Professional gives you unlimited images and unlimited galleries for EUR 29 a month billed yearly. If you keep years of full-resolution weddings online, no tool that counts gigabytes will be cheaper. Photoglacier counts storage: 500 GB on Pro and 2 TB on Studio, with extra blocks of 100 GB.
Pick by what you use scrappbook for
The right alternative depends on which part of scrappbook you actually use.
Wedding delivery with photos and film
This is where a switch pays off soonest. A couple needs a cover, a clean presentation, favourites and a download that works for the whole family, and increasingly the film next to the photos. Photoglacier puts video in the same gallery and counts it against ordinary storage, with unlimited galleries from Starter at EUR 8 a month billed yearly.
Family and newborn with print sales
If prints and albums are a real part of your income, stay with a tool that has a shop. scrappbook does this in German, with production and shipping handled for you. The international alternative is Pixieset, which pairs a print store with a website builder, with data that may be stored outside the EU.
Company work with strict data rules
A corporate client or a public body may ask not only where the servers stand but which companies process the data. picdrop hosts in Germany and is strong on proofing for commercial work. Photoglacier keeps servers and object storage in Germany and signs an AVV electronically. Ask each provider for its list of sub-processors before you commit.
Schools, nurseries and paid downloads
Selling single images to many parents needs a shop with payment, invoices and automatic release of the files. That is scrappbook's digital shop, and none of the other three tools in this comparison replaces it. Photoglacier is the wrong choice for this job, and says so.
Moving off scrappbook
No gallery tool we checked offers an import from another one, and you do not need it. The files you deliver are already in your archive.
-
Export from your own archive, not from scrappbook
Your edited files live in Lightroom or on your drive, so export them again at the delivery size. Save what exists only in scrappbook first: client selections, which can be exported to Lightroom, and the orders and invoices from your shop.
-
Keep both accounts live for one delivery cycle
Send one real job through the new tool and watch a client open it before you move anything else. Do not downgrade scrappbook yet: according to its own FAQ, galleries beyond the limit of your plan are deleted automatically some time after you cancel, with a notice by email.
-
Rebuild the look once, as a preset
Cover, fonts, colours, download rules, password. Set it up once and save it, so the next gallery takes minutes. On Photoglacier the free plan holds one preset and Pro as many as you like. If your galleries ran on your own domain, plan the switch: Photoglacier supports a custom domain from Pro.
-
Re-send links, then cancel last
Update the gallery link in your email templates and on your website, and re-send anything a client still needs. Then check your term: monthly Starter runs for at least three months, and yearly plans are paid in advance. Cancel once the last open gallery has been delivered elsewhere.
If delivery is the job, not the shop
For the delivery half of what scrappbook does, this is what the same work looks like on Photoglacier. It is built in Austria and runs on servers and object storage in Germany, with an AVV in German and a DPA in English. You can try the paid features for 14 days without a credit card, and the free plan after it holds 5 GB and three published galleries with no expiry, enough to send one real job through before you decide.
- Unlimited published galleries from Starter; storage is what you pay for, 100 GB on Starter and 500 GB on Pro
- Photos and video in one gallery, with video counted against ordinary storage
- Stars, likes and reject on every plan; filename export for Lightroom from Starter; photo comments from Pro
- Clients need no account and no app; a gallery is a web page they can pass on to family
- What it does not do: no print or digital shop, no watermarks, no installable client app, no marketing automation, and no unlimited storage tier
Questions people are asking
What is the best scrappbook alternative?
It depends on which part of scrappbook you use. For plain wedding and portrait delivery hosted in Germany, Photoglacier is the closest fit, with unlimited galleries and 100 GB for EUR 8 a month billed yearly. For commercial proofing, picdrop. For print sales in an international suite, Pixieset. For selling single images to parents, nothing in this comparison replaces scrappbook's digital shop.
Is there a free scrappbook alternative?
Yes. scrappbook's own free plan is 5 GB and three galleries. Photoglacier's free plan is also 5 GB with three published galleries, no expiry and no commission, with Photoglacier branding shown. picdrop offers 1 GB and three galleries, and Pixieset 3 GB with unlimited galleries, no video and a 15% commission on store sales.
What does scrappbook cost?
As of October 2026: Free with 5 GB and three galleries; Starter at EUR 19 a month with a three-month minimum, or EUR 14.50 billed yearly, with unlimited storage and 15 galleries; Professional at EUR 39 a month, or EUR 29 billed yearly, with unlimited galleries; Business from EUR 99 a month for studio chains and agencies. Prices exclude VAT, and a service fee applies to digital sales.
Is scrappbook GDPR compliant?
scrappbook is a German company, advertises EU servers and GDPR compliance, and has you accept an AVV at sign-up. Its privacy policy also names US-based providers, among them Heroku, AWS and Cloudflare, and says data may be transferred to the USA under standard contractual clauses. That is a common and lawful setup. If a client contract demands EU-only processing, ask the provider before you sign. This page is not legal advice.
scrappbook or picdrop?
scrappbook if you sell prints and files to private clients and want unlimited storage at a flat price. picdrop if you work for agencies and editors and need votes, colour marks and file versions. picdrop has no shop, and scrappbook's selection with hearts and comments suits private clients more than agency rounds. Both are German companies.
scrappbook or Pixieset?
Both have a shop. scrappbook is German, bills in euros and offers unlimited storage from Starter. Pixieset is Canadian, bills in US dollars, counts storage in gigabytes, and adds a website builder and studio manager. Pixieset says data may be stored outside the EU.
Can I move my galleries from scrappbook?
Not with an import button, because no tool we checked offers one, but you do not need it. Export the delivery files again from your own archive, save client selections and shop orders that exist only in scrappbook, run both accounts for one delivery cycle, re-send the links still in use, and cancel last.
scrappbook alternatives for photographers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland
Most searches for a scrappbook alternative come from wedding and family photographers in the German-speaking countries, and what they want is rarely a different shop. They want to know what delivery costs once the shop is left out. scrappbook answers with unlimited storage and a limit on galleries; picdrop and Photoglacier answer with unlimited galleries and a limit on storage. Which is cheaper depends on how many clients you serve in a year and how long their galleries stay online.
A free scrappbook alternative exists on each of the tools compared here, with 5 GB on Photoglacier and 1 GB on picdrop. For photographers who chose scrappbook because it is a German provider, the question that matters is where the files are stored and who processes them. Photoglacier keeps servers and object storage in Germany, signs an AVV electronically, and puts photos and video into one gallery, on a free plan you can test with a real job.
